I feel like with each year, I'm learning more about myself and my style. Some outfits that are on my blog from even a year ago, I still think are pretty damn cool, but just don't feel 'me' anymore. And with my most important New Year's Resolution being to spend my money on fashion more sensibly, I think this is something that has really changed the way I view my style.
I'm already less inclined already to buy into trends and 'it' pieces, and instead making myself wait a few weeks before buying something to make sure I still like it, and ensuring I can think of at least 3-4 ways to style a piece. Sometimes I'm overwhelmed on a morning when trying to pick the outfit for the day, as there is so much choice. And I'm ashamed to admit that at least 40% of my wardrobe either still has the tags on or hasn't been worn in the last year.
I've noticed that I tend to reach for the same items in my wardrobe on a day-to-day basis. The most common being my oversized jumper and satin midi skirt combination. Although the satin skirts are a huuuge trend at the minute, it's one I know I will continue to love for years, and have already worn my black Topshop one to absolute death.
Another piece on my style resolution agenda is to have a huge clear out. If it doesn't bring me joy, I don't want it. Despite being a lover of the more maximal style of clothing, I've secretly always loved the idea of having a capsule wardrobe of items that I love and will wear forever.
And lastly, a note to myself: STOP BUYING COATS.
