Happy Wednesday, you lovely bunch! The Beast From the East has well and truly shook the UK this week, ain't it? Thankfully, Tom and I managed to make the most of the rare appearance of some sunshine here in the North East, just before it became Snowmageddon. Onto the outfit, shall we?
Rewind five years, and I can still hear my mum telling me that pink and red are an absolute NO-GO under any circumstance. Similar to that of navy and black, they are two colours that should never be seen together. Yet here we are! Pink and red is the colour combination of the season without a doubt. And I couldn't be happier!
There's something about the pairing of such a girly, feminine colour with a powerful, strong shade of red that I can't get enough of. I decided to use these typical associations with colours while putting this outfit together by playing up the 'girliness' of the pink in an equally girly pair of uber slinky, satin trousers. Juxtaposed with an exaggerated silhouette in the jumper, it's a look I think works oh so well. Not to mention you're also keeping super snuggly in these bloody arctic temperatures (no one will ever know you've got eight thermals on underneath).
I really wanted the colours to do the talking in this look, so I kept the accessories simple with a monochromatic palette. White boots keep the whole outfit fresh and Spring-like, while a pair of classic RayBan Rounds and the Gucci Soho Disco are understated wardrobe staples that complete any and every outfit. For Spring/Summer, switch the red jumper for a white tee, and replace the black accessories for either matching pink ones, or a basket bag. How freaking cute?! (Can you tell I'm aching for Summer?)
What do you think?
