SHOP THE LOOK:
2018 has brought with it a wave of new motivation and inspiration for me. As clichè as it may be, it's a new start and I feel so ready to tackle the year ahead. I remember getting dressed for our New Years Day rituals and seeing my wardrobe with entirely new eyes. Previous days had me doubting myself and ability to put an ace outfit together, bringing with it countless wardrobe meltdowns. Yet the New Year suddenly offered me endless outfit ideas!
I've always been so petty with my outfit planning, thinking I can't wear the same pair of red shoes or straight leg jeans two days in a row. I mean, how frigging insane is that? It's impossible to live like that and to be frank I was driving myself insane, not to mention those around me. (Mostly Tom who was always at the end of my meltdowns and panicking.) I was worried about being too much of one style and not enough of the other - in other words, I think I was trying to please everyone but myself.
I would often switch elements of an outfit for a more toned-down version despite my better judgement so people wouldn't stare or point as much. I was so close to swapping the pink boots and green bag in this look for black accessories, but I am SO glad I didn't! Although for some, this option would have been preferable, I knew I wasn't being true to myself and began to question why I was letting other people (total strangers, in fact!) rule my life. It was this realisation that changed my approach to getting dressed in the morning.
Now, it's like I'm a new woman. I wear whatever I like, whenever I like. I've realised what I love to wear and what I don't, what makes me feel great, and most importantly what I love about my style. Colour! It's what makes me stand out and feel like me. For the first time I think I truly feel confident in my style, and I think my friends and family can really tell! I've had a few gorgeous girls very kindly share my page on Instagram, alongside a caption noting my love of colour! While a few girls at uni noted how I have a really strong, distinct style. These are all such powerful and meaningful things to me, yet seem so small to others. I've always struggled with who I am and my own style, but I feel as though I'm finally standing strong on my own path and I couldn't be happier.
This outfit is amazing!! You work the colours so well girl. xx
